About Dr. Arundathi Rao
Dr. Arundathi Rao, MD, FACS, CWSP
General Surgeon | Certified Wound Care Specialist – Sarasota, Florida
Dr. Rao is a highly respected general surgeon and Certified Wound Care Specialist physician with more than 20 years of experience helping patients heal from complex and chronic wounds. Based in Sarasota, she brings surgical expertise, scientific rigor, and compassionate care to every patient interaction.
She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed her general surgery training before joining Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she served as Head of Bariatric Surgery. During her tenure, she led innovative programs in minimally invasive and weight-loss surgery experience which continues to shape her approach to advanced wound healing, tissue repair, and nutrition-based recovery.
As a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Certified Wound Care Specialist (CWSP) through the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM), Dr. Rao integrates advanced wound therapies with a holistic, nutrition-focused philosophy. She believes that optimal healing depends on both the science of medicine and the art of compassionate care.
Her leadership ensures that every patient receives a personalized treatment plan built on clinical excellence, empathy, and long-term recovery.
